OUR MOST RECOGNIZED PROCEDURES AND DIAGNOSIS
As a spine expert in the Las Vegas valley, Dr. Elkanich provides a vast amount of procedures relating to the spine, here are some of our most recognized.
Cervical, Thoracic and Lumbar Fusion
There are different methods of fusion. Bone is typically taken from the pelvic bone or from a bone bank. The bone is used to make a bridge between vertebrae that are next to each other. This bone graft helps new bone grow.
Degenerative Spinal Conditions
Usually caused by aging, degenerative spine conditions involve the gradual loss of normal structure and function of the spine over time. They may also be the result of tumors, infections or arthritis.
A traumatic spinal cord injury may happen because of a sudden blow or cut to the spine. A spinal cord injury often causes permanent loss of strength, sensation, and function below the site of the injury.
Total Disc Replacement
In artificial disk replacement, worn or damaged disk material between the small bones in the spine (vertebrae) is removed and replaced with a synthetic or “artificial” disk.
A spinal disorder in which a bone (vertebra) slips forward onto the bone below it. If the vertebra slips too far, it may press on nerves and cause severe back pain or nerve crowding that produces leg pain or numbness.
Spine deformity can happen when unnatural curvature occurs, as in scoliosis or kyphosis and Scheuermann’s disease. It also occurs due to defect or damage to the spine.
